We know that understanding fees and how to access support is an important part of starting your journey, and we want to make it as clear and straightforward as possible for you. Here’s a breakdown of how our fees work.
Our Session Costs
A standard consultation, which lasts for 50 minutes, costs $158. This fee applies to both your initial appointment and any ongoing sessions you have with us. We believe in transparent pricing so you can plan effectively for your care.
Making Sessions More Accessible with Medicare
We are registered with Medicare, which offers rebates for psychological treatment under the Better Access initiative. This scheme is designed to help make seeing a psychologist more affordable.
If you are eligible for a Better Access Medicare-funded service, you can receive a rebate of $98.95 for each 50-minute session. This means your out-of-pocket cost (or ‘gap’ fee) will be the difference between the session fee ($158) and the rebate ($98.95).
To claim this Medicare rebate, you will need a referral from your GP (usually as part of a Mental Health Care Plan). We encourage you to discuss this with your doctor to see if you are eligible. You can find more details about the referral process on our Referrals page.
Please note: You do NOT need a referral if you do not wish to claim from Medicare.
Payment for Your Consultation
Payment for your session fee is required on the day of your consultation. For your convenience, we can lodge your Medicare claim for you on the same date, allowing you to receive your rebate straight away.
Using Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you might be wondering if you can use it.
Please be aware that you cannot use your private health insurance cover to pay any additional costs above the Medicare rebates for these services. This means you need to decide whether you will use Medicare or your private health insurance to help cover the cost of your psychological services.
We recommend checking directly with your private health fund to understand what psychological services are covered under your specific policy. Just like with choosing not to claim Medicare, you do not need a referral if you choose to use only your private health insurance cover.
Our Cancellation Policy
We understand that sometimes, unexpected things come up and you might need to change or cancel your appointment. When you book a session, we reserve a whole hour specifically for you.
If you need to cancel or rebook, we kindly ask for at least two business days’ notice. This allows us time to potentially offer that spot to another client who may be waiting to see us.
If an appointment is cancelled with less than two business days’ notice, a cancellation fee of $79 will apply. We feel this is a fair policy, as short-notice cancellations mean the time cannot be used by others waiting, or by the psychologist who has prepared for your session.
Any cancellation fee will be payable at your next session and please be aware that this fee is not claimable from Medicare or private health insurers.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with our cancellation policy.
